Trips

What the sea state means for a crossing.

Whether a trip sails is decided close to the day, by the captain, on the forecast for the crossing and for the landing at the station. Wind and wave height matter most; a long swell from a distant storm can stop a trip on a clear, calm-looking morning.

Passengers booked on a trip are told by phone or email once the decision is made. A trip cancelled for weather or sea state is credited toward another date.
